Getting started
What is Suburb Hunt, exactly?
Suburb Hunt is a suburb-first rental platform for Australian renters. Instead of just showing listings, every suburb page shows who lives there, what it typically costs to rent, and how it's trending — all built on ABS Census data, then paired with live rental listings so you can act on it.
Do I need to create an account?
No — you can browse suburb pages, search, and take the quiz without an account. You'll only need to sign up to save listings, set up alerts, or track applications from your dashboard.
Is Suburb Hunt free to use?
Browsing suburbs, searching and alerts are always free. The quiz is free too — you get your top 3 suburb matches at no cost. A one-time $12.90 payment unlocks the full match deep-dive (why each suburb fits, live listings, comparisons) for 45 days, no subscription.

Where does your suburb data come from?
Every figure — renter share, median rent, income, population — comes from the ABS 2021 Census. No estimates, no resold spreadsheets, no filler copy.
How many suburbs do you cover?
All 2,387 ABS-defined suburbs across all 8 states and territories — not a shortlist of the biggest cities.
How does the quiz match me to a suburb?
Nine short sections about your budget, commute, lifestyle and household, matched against real suburb data to return your top 3 fits, ranked.
How often is the suburb data updated?
The current data pack is built from the 2021 ABS Census — the most recent national Census available. We'll refresh the whole database when the ABS releases new Census figures.
Can I retake the quiz if my situation changes?
Yes — there's no limit. Retake it any time your budget, commute or household changes and you'll get a fresh set of top 3 matches.

Do you show real rental listings?
Yes — live listings are tied to suburb pages, so you can go from suburb data straight to available rentals in the same place.
How do I save a listing or track an application?
Once you've got an account, you can save any listing from a suburb or listing page, and track applications you've submitted from your dashboard in one place.
How do rental alerts work?
Set your suburb, budget and property preferences once, and we'll email you when a matching listing goes live — you can adjust or pause alerts any time from your dashboard.
Privacy & your account
Do you share my information with anyone?
Your quiz answers and account details are only used to match you to suburbs and listings, and to send alerts you've opted into. See our Privacy Policy for full detail.
How do I unsubscribe from emails?
Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can manage your alert and newsletter preferences from your dashboard settings.
